Meet Grace
Grace Schexnayder, from Conroe, Texas, is a 22 year old student pursuing a degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Houston. She is a Texas local, having graduated from both Conroe High School and Lone Star College -Montgomery. She is a performer, trained vocalist, and lover of all things music! She has been singing for 17 years, and she understands that - above all - passion is the true motivation of performance. She hopes not only to help students become well-rounded and grow confidence in their unique abilities, but to joyfully ignite their passion, and watch it always light them up!
Grace has participated in elite competitive choirs throughout her school years, including, but not limited to: the intermediate district Honor Choir, the Peet Junior High TMEA and Region Choirs, the Conroe High School Chamber, Women’s, and elite a cappella competition choirs, the TMEA regional Women’s and Mixed choirs, the Texas All State Mixed Choir, and the Lone Star Montgomery Chamber Choir.
Grace has also had the privilege of singing for the Astros, with the Houston Symphony Orchestra, and in places all over the country, from Disney World to Carnegie Hall, gaining unique knowledge from world renowned conductors, composers, and broadway stars and directors. Grace learned a great deal from these unique experiences and, on her own, has received a score of 1 in all of her UIL solo and ensemble performances spanning 8 years, was a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner of the National Association of Teachers of Singing solo competitions, and won 1st place in the talent portion of the 2024 National American Miss Texas Pageant.
Grace is certainly a classically trained vocalist, but she also has experience in countless contemporary performance genres, such as pop, jazz, and rock. She has especially found a deep love for Musical Theatre performance over the past 3 years, partaking in roles including Dorothy (The Wizard of Oz), Sandy (Grease), Johanna (Sweeney Todd), Janet Van De Graaff (The Drowsy Chaperone), Little Red Riding Hood (Into the Woods), Linda Mason (Holiday Inn), Margo (Bright Star), Erma (Anything Goes), and many more!
